this image reminds me of how i saw the sea once, on bruny island, when i was basically staring at it (and the clouds) for three days with the help of a couple of friends 🙂 the photographer, Sohei Nishino, painstakingly assembled thousands of individual analogue photographs into a huge panorama to which you cannot do justice in a digital medium of course but if you go to the article in the nyt it zooms in on some details. the article is written in that annoying style of a jack of all trades freelance journo on a tight deadline who doesn’t really know much about the topic and also the artist completely misunderstands what he’s made but that’s not unusual for artists. the text does have one rather nice line : What is a wave? A wave is motion. It is a noun that is secretly a verb.’
